What Is Eurythmy

Eurythmy is an art of moving which combines theater, dance, music and literature: transforming sound and feeling into gesture.

One could say it is the dance of speech, where words and music are expressed through human nature, offering performances of exceptional beauty.

Rudolf Steiner, an early twentieth century austrian philosopher and researcher, conceived this original form of dance. It is developed intensively today, particularly in Europe (Germany, Holland, Switzerland and England). In Brazil its importance is growing continuously.

Its expressions are choreographies, in solo or group, from dancing of poetic language, verse or prose, to live instrumental music.

The artistic element of speech and music is taken to the stage as choreography; enhanced by strikingly coloured costumes, beautiful tissues and studied lightning effects.

Eurythmy choreography has motivated the interest of numerous young artists in classical contemporary music and poetry in Brazil.
